School Budget Booster Initiative
One-time Energy-Efficiency Incentives for Maine Schools

School Districts all over Maine will be looking for your help this spring—and all year long—to take advantage of a special, one-time offer from Efficiency Maine: we’re doubling our incentives for energy-efficiency retrofits under our School Budget Booster Initiative. Here are some examples of the limited-time incentives available:

examples of limited-time incentives available. Call Efficiency Maine for more information: 866-376-2463

*Many other energy efficiency products may also qualify for incentives.
Please call Efficiency Maine for more information.

With these incentives, Efficiency Maine can provide an average of 75% of the project cost for many efficiency measures. They’re available to all public schools statewide throughout 2008—but please remind your local district to apply as soon as possible, because funds are limited.

Even without this initiative, schools see real benefits from retrofitting existing lighting, HVAC, and other systems with new energy-efficient technologies: they save on energy costs for years to come, while gaining a more comfortable and better-lit environment—not to mention setting an example of financial and environmental stewardship for our kids.

Where can you help?
Lighting accounts for an average of 40 percent of public school energy bills. And despite the fact that most schools in Maine are not air-conditioned, HVAC systems can still account for a significant portion of a school’s electrical load. New technologies can lower electric loads, providing savings that can really add up. But schools require your expertise to select the right systems and install them properly.
