The Large Customer program is an opportunity for Maine businesses, institutions and governments to compete for funding for large electrical energy efficiency and distributed generation projects. The focus of the program is to leverage private investment to achieve significant electrical savings and to stimulate economic growth in Maine. Funding levels range from a minimum of $100,000 to a maximum of $750,000 per facility, up to 50% of the total project costs.
These grants are targeted at many of the biggest energy consumers in the state, those using more than 400 kW. The grants from this program help buy-down the up-front capital cost of large energy upgrade projects, helping the projects meet corporate Return on Investment requirements and gain approval.
The Trust is currently accepting applications to the Large Customer Program Opportunity Notice (PON) and Large Customer Program Opportunity Notice for Greenhouse Gas Reduction Projects. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the Trust with questions. The Trust’s will periodically consider applications to the PON and make awards to applicants who meet the criteria outlined within the PONs found here. The Trust will make awards to projects meeting all of these criteria and will consider new applications until June 30th, 2014 when this PON expires or until the available program funding is exhausted, whichever comes first.
