The Large Customer Program is designed to leverage private investment to achieve significant electrical and greenhouse gas savings. Funding levels range from a minimum of $50,000 to a maximum of $2 million per facility or up to 50% of the total project costs. Additional restrictions apply. Please refer to each of the Program Opportunity Notices below for more details. Typical customers of the program include hospitals, manufacturers, commercial bakeries, food processors, office complexes, and data centers.
Efficiency Maine offers free scoping audits to a select group of business that have the potential of developing a project as part of the Large Customer Program. Scoping audits provide an opportunity for a business to get a professional consultation on a facility’s specific energy needs and identify cost-effective energy efficiency projects that will reduce operating expenses.
Efficiency Maine offers incentives for Technical Assistance Studies for customers that have already identified a project but need outside assistance to develop an application for the Large Customer Program Opportunity Notice.

The Trust has three Program Opportunity Notices accepting applications:
- Large Electrical Efficiency and Distributed Generation Projects
- Extra Large Electrical Efficiency and Distributed Generation Projects
- Greenhouse Gas Reduction Projects
