Building Energy Codes Program
DOE's Building Energy Codes Program is an information resource on national model energy codes. We work with other government agencies, state and local jurisdictions, national code organizations, and industry to promote stronger building energy codes and help states adopt, implement, and enforce those codes. DSIRE: Incentives for Renewable Energy
A 10% federal energy tax credit is currently available to businesses that invest in or purchase solar or geothermal energy property in the United States. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (H.R. 6) expands the credit to fuel cells and microturbines installed in 2006 and 2007 and to hybrid solar lighting systems installed on or after January 1, 2006.

Interstate Energy Council
The North America Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) is developing a voluntary certification program for installers of photovoltaic (PV) systems. This document outlines the requirements that candidates for PV installer certification will need to meet in order to become certified. These requirements were developed by the NABCEP PV Technical Committee and by the Board based on input from stakeholders, extensive deliberation among committee and board members, research of skill requirements for existing trades, and examination of certification and licensure pathways for similar trades.
Inventions and Innovations Program
For individuals or small businesses, developing an energy-saving invention can be difficult. The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Inventions and Innovation (I&I) offers financial and technical support to inventors and businesses for promising energy-saving concepts and technologies. I&I selects technologies to receive grants through a competitive process. Inventors can apply for a grant when I&I releases an announcement of funding opportunity. Technologies that offer significant energy savings and future commercial market potential are eligible for I&I support.
Maine Benchmark: Energy Benchmark for High Performance Buildings
Maine Benchmark presents the criteria, a set of prescribed measures that defines a high performance building with a minimum of 20% energy savings over ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2001, which is a target savings measure in the construction of Maine public improvement projects.

Million Solar Roofs
The Million Solar Roofs Initiative is a unique public-private partnership, aimed at overcoming barriers to market entry for selected solar technologies. The goal of the Initiative is practical and market-driven: to facilitate the sale and installation of one million "solar roofs" by 2010. Eligible technologies include photovoltaics (PV), solar water heating, transpired solar collectors, solar space heating and cooling and pool heating.

The MotorUp Initiative is a program to save energy in the Northeast through the use of more premium efficient electric motors. The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) works with business, industry, universities, and others to increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. In fiscal year 2004 alone, EERE awarded approximately $506 million in financial assistance.
