New Reservation System for EV Rebates
Efficiency Maine is implementing a “rebate hold” system for EV rebates due to ongoing supply chain issues. As of March 1st, you will have the option to request a rebate hold on a vehicle that has been ordered for a customer with a paid deposit and will be delivered at a later date.
A rebate hold allows Efficiency Maine to reserve funds for the rebate in case funding runs out before the purchase is completed. If you do not submit a rebate hold, we cannot guarantee that funding will be available at the time the vehicle is delivered.
Dealers can request a rebate hold using the same Rebate Reimbursement Form you normally use. Simply enter the customer and vehicle information and attach a copy of the vehicle order confirmation.
If the rebate hold is approved, Efficiency Maine will reserve funds for the rebate(s) in the amount specified on Efficiency Maine’s website at the time the hold is approved. This rebate hold will last for 120 days or until the purchase is completed. If a vehicle is not purchased within 120 days, you may request to renew the rebate hold by contacting ev@efficiencymaine.com. If funds allow, Efficiency Maine will confirm that the renewal has been approved and that the funds have been reserved for another 120 days.
Please see the latest version of the EV Rebate Program Manual for full details. In particular, see Section 8.2 “Rebate Holds”.
