Demand Response
Maine businesses can earn yearly pay-for-performance incentives by temporarily reducing electricity use during peak demand events – three to five hot afternoons per summer. Support grid reliability and generate additional revenue for your facility.
Incentives
Program Partners earn $40 per average kW of verified load reduction and compensate participants. Compensation structures and amounts are determined by each Program Partner.
Eligibility
To qualify for the program, your facility must:
- be served by a commercial Maine electric utility account (not on a Transmission or Sub-Transmission rate).
- have an electrical demand that exceeds the proposed load reduction.
- have an interval meter (utility or revenue-grade equivalent) installed.
- be able to reduce electrical load on short notice during peak demand events.
- maintain participation throughout the summer season.
- provide interval data from the utility or approved metering.
