Efficiency Maine offers a variety of energy loans to help you pay for energy upgrades. All of our loans are low-interest, long-term loans with no fees. The application process is simple and quick. Often, annual energy savings exceed the cost of monthly loan payments in the very first year.
Popular loan projects include energy assessments, air sealing, insulation, high efficiency boiler or furnaces, pellet stoves, wood stoves, and ductless heat pumps. Additional energy or health and safety measures may be included with qualifying energy saving projects such as dealing with water issues in basements, crawl spaces, and attics; mold mitigation; radon mitigation; and asbestos remediation. With your energy advisor, insulation company or registered heating contractor, determine a scope of work that will result in energy savings, comfort, and safety year after year.In order to qualify for financing, the scope of work must include at least one eligible measure from the prescriptive list or have a total projected whole home savings greater than or equal to 20% as determined by an energy model. Popular prescriptive list measures that meet the minimum requirement for financing include: an energy assessment and a minimum of 6 hours of air sealing work, comprehensive insulation projects as recommended by an energy advisor, eligible heat pumps, pellet and wood stoves, high efficiency central boilers, and furnaces. As long as at least one highly cost-effective eligible measure is included in the project, additional energy saving upgrades as well as health and safety improvements can be included in financing. Details on eligible scopes of work can be found on the Energy Loan Scope of Work Form
