PON EM-006-2025
Medium- and Heavy-Duty Battery Electric Vehicle Demonstration Project
Through this competitive Program Opportunity Notice (PON), the Efficiency Maine Trust (Efficiency Maine) is seeking proposals from eligible businesses to demonstrate the potential uses and performance of medium- and heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (MHDEVs) in Maine.
Funding recipients must purchase and place into operation at least one Class 3-7 electric vehicle (i.e., 10,000-33,000 lbs GVWR). The vehicle(s) must be operated in Maine for at least three years. Along with a vehicle incentive, the program also offers incentives for Level 2 vehicle chargers and professional services such as consulting.
The objectives of the program are to:
1. Demonstrate and measure the practicality and benefits of battery electric vehicle technology in medium/heavy-duty vehicle duty cycles that are common in the State;
2. Assess the cost-effectiveness of MHDEVs (i.e., total cost of ownership versus internal combustion engine equivalents); and,
3. Gather data for future Efficiency Maine offerings, as well as to inform future policies and programs, related to the use of medium/heavy-duty vehicles in the State.
