Demand Response
This program pays commercial and industrial customers to temporarily reduce their load on the electric grid at times of peak demand. This is typically 3 to 5 hot summer afternoons and evenings per year.
Businesses participate in this program by contracting with one of Efficiency Maine’s Program Partners. They work with businesses to maximize incentives and directly compensate participants on a pay-for-performance basis for their average kW reduction.
Incentive: $40/kW curtailed
Eligibility
To be eligible for incentives, a customer must:
- have a commercial or industrial account with a Maine electric utility at the site of the proposed project.
- pay an assessment to the state’s energy conservation charge.
- have an interval meter (or equivalent revenue-grade metering installed by a Program Partner) to validate performance.
- provide documentation that itemizes any behind-the-meter generation (such as photovoltaic or combined heat and power) from the claimed curtailed load.
To participate in this program, contact one or more of the Program Partners below.
