Load Management
The Load Management Initiative offers incentives to individuals and small businesses who allow Efficiency Maine to manage their eligible device(s) during periods of high demand and electric grid congestion. Participants can opt out of individual events or stop participating at any time. Eligible devices include: 1) residential and commercial energy storage systems that have an inverter size of no greater than 20kW, and 2) residential electric vehicle charging equipment that consumes between 2.8kW and 19.2kW of power.
Energy Storage Systems
Batteries will be controlled, or dispatched, approximately 15 times per summer (June 1 through September 30), when demand on the electric grid is very high. Each individual dispatch, or event, will last no longer than three hours. Events will not occur on holidays, weekends, or within two days before major storms.
Incentive: $100/kW maximum continuous discharge capacity, paid annually in October
