Weatherizing your home can save a lot of money, and even those first few steps – like getting an energy assessment – can place you on the path toward achieving significant energy savings.
Most homes in Maine are excessively leaky, poorly insulated and expensive to heat. It may seem daunting to consider the work and expense to transform your house into a comfortable and energy-efficient home, but Efficiency Maine can help. Call one of Efficiency Maine’s Participating Energy Advisors to schedule a visit, and tell them you want to get an energy assessment to button up your home. Whether the air sealing and insulation work occurs at the time of the energy assessment or on a separate day by a different contractor, Efficiency Maine will pay up to the first $600 of costs on any project that starts with an energy assessment and includes at least 6 hours of air sealing and insulation work. This rebate is available per unit in 1-to 4-unit buildings with no income restrictions.
HOME COMFORT PAID FOR BY ENERGY SAVINGS
Join the thousands of Mainers who have already made their homes more comfortable and energy efficient. On average, homeowners are saving 40% a year on their energy costs. The average upgrade cost has been $8,800, including such measures as heating upgrades and added insulation in attics, walls and basements. Smaller projects can save hundreds of dollars per year too – so don't delay!
It all starts with a home energy audit by a Participating Energy Advisor.
If you choose to invest in a larger project for larger savings, borrow up to $15,000 for pre-approved energy efficiency projects, regardless of income. Maine PACE Financing is available in select towns (PDF). PowerSaver loans of up to $25,000 are available statewide. Smaller quicker loans up to $7,500 are also available statewide and are available to qualified homeowners who participate in the above air-sealing promotion.
