How It Works
Join the thousands of Mainers who have made their homes more comfortable and energy efficient through the Home Energy Savings Program.
Participating homeowners are now saving an average of 40% a year on energy. The average Maine home costs $8,800 to upgrade. The Home Energy Savings Program process helps ensure a positive outcome.
To see if your home will benefit from an energy efficiency upgrade answer a few quick questions (PDF) or use this calculator.
1 AUDIT YOUR HOME'S ENERGY EFFICIENCY |
|
Hire a Participating Energy Advisor to perform a home energy audit. These questions will help you make the best hiring decision.
Decide which improvements you'd like to make and calculate the final cost. If you need financing, consider a low-interest Maine PACE Loan from Efficiency Maine. |
2 UPGRADE |
|
Hire a professional to make your energy-saving improvements.
If you are using a Maine PACE Loan, select your contractor from the Registered Vendor list. If your contractor is not yet a Registered Vendor, ask them to register using this form. |
3 ENJOY COMFORT & ENERGY SAVINGS |
|
If you are using a Maine PACE Loan, schedule a return visit by your Participating Energy Advisor to ensure the project was completed as specified.
You may also qualify for up to $500 in federal energy efficiency tax credits. Please consult your tax preparer. |
