Electric Vehicle Incentives for Businesses and Organizations

Dozens of Maine businesses and organizations own electric vehicles. They’re popular because they are fun to drive, cost less to operate, and emit fewer pollutants than internal combustion engine vehicles. Click here to learn more about driving electric.

Efficiency Maine offers special incentives for the purchase or lease of eligible vehicles by business and nonprofit entities.

Incentives up to $2,000

• Limit of 10 Efficiency Maine incentives per business/nonprofit in a 12-month period

In addition to Efficiency Maine’s incentive, your organization may be eligible for a federal tax credit.

Efficiency Maine Incentive Eligibility

Efficiency Maine offers two ways to take advantage of our electric vehicle incentives on qualifying electric vehicles:

1. Instant discount at a Participating EV Dealership
2. Rebate after purchasing or leasing an EV directly from a manufacturer

Electric Vehicle

• Electric vehicle must have a price of no more than the amounts listed below, where the price is defined as total MSRP or “sticker price,” including options and accessories, minus destination/delivery charges, and no other discounts, deductions, credits or rebates are to be counted in the eligibility determination calculation:
  • $73,000, in the case of an eligible pickup truck or commercial van with an EPA-rated range of 300 miles or more;
  • $65,000, in the case of an eligible pickup truck or commercial van with an EPA-rated range of less than 300 miles; or
  • $50,000, for all other eligible vehicles.

New Eligible Vehicles List

Participant

• A business entity or nonprofit entity in good standing, authorized to do business in the State of Maine, and with an office in the State of Maine.

Timeframe

• If purchased from a Participating EV Dealership, incentive must be provided as an instant discount at the time of purchase or lease.
• If purchased directly from a manufacturer, rebate claim form must be submitted online within 45 days of EV purchase or lease date.

How to Get an Efficiency Maine Instant Discount 

1. Choose an eligible vehicle.
2. Find a Participating EV Dealership.
3. Receive an instant discount at time of purchase or lease.

How to Get an Efficiency Maine Direct-from-Manufacturer Rebate

1. Choose an eligible vehicle.
2. Purchase or lease an eligible vehicle directly from a manufacturer.
3. Submit rebate claim form or postmark it within 45 days of EV purchase or lease date.
