Electric Vehicle Incentives for Low- and Moderate-Income Mainers

Passenger's side view of two women in an electric vehicle.

Thousands of Mainers own electric vehicles. They’re popular because they are fun to drive, cost less to operate, and emit fewer pollutants than internal combustion engine vehicles. Click here to learn more about driving electric.

Customers must receive written validation of eligibility from Efficiency Maine before the purchase or lease of an EV to receive an enhanced rebate amount.

Efficiency Maine offers enhanced incentives for qualified low- and moderate-income Mainers.

  • Moderate Income
    • Homeowner’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI)
      • Up to $70,000 for an individual filing as single, head of household or married filing separately.
      • Up to $100,000 if married filing jointly or individual filing as a qualifying widowed person.
  • Low Income
    • Must demonstrate participation in Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or MaineCare.

If you do not qualify for low- or moderate-income incentives, click here for our any-income electric vehicle incentives.
