EV Rebate Program Reminders
As of October 11th, 2022, higher EV rebates are available for qualified moderate-income customers, in addition to the enhanced rebates for low-income customers. Please make sure to ask customers if they’d like to apply for these enhanced rebates before completing any electric vehicle sale.
A customer must have a pre-approval letter from Efficiency Maine before the point of sale to receive a low- or moderate-income rebate. If a customer has the pre-approval letter, you should deduct the corresponding enhanced rebate amount from the vehicle sale price. If a customer thinks that they may qualify but does not have a pre-approval letter, please guide them to Efficiency Maine’s income-based eligibility verification page. Please allow the customer 10 days to receive the pre-approval letter before executing the sale. Efficiency Maine will not reimburse the difference in a rebate if the customer receives a standard EV rebate, then realizes after the point of sale that they may have qualified for a low- or moderate-income rebate.
