Low-cost Energy Conservation Loans for Small Business
Solar power arrays, auxiliary power units for big-rig trucks, insulation, and even wind turbines can qualify for significant low-cost loans under this program, as long as they produce demonstrable energy savings.
The program provides loans up to $35,000, currently at 1% interest, to small businesses to fund energy conservation measures approved by Efficiency Maine. The Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) provides credit analysis and document underwriting services for this program.
Loan processing costs will be paid by the applicant and may be added to the project cost. Loan repayment terms will vary depending upon project and loan amount, but closing costs are capped at $500.
Because of limited resources, schools, hospitals, and facilities with residential components, such as apartment buildings, condominiums, or home offices are not eligible for participation in this program.
